Adventures in Andy Land, Episode 6 recap

The Bachelor: An Officer and a Gentleman, Episode 6 showed Andy Baldwin meeting the families of the final 4. Each family he meets offers their own challenges.

Bevin's family is the first to be visited. Andy and Bevin travel near Seattle, Washington for the meeting. Before they actually meet the family, the two of them have a picnic. At this point Bevin let's Andy know about her past marriage and divorce. He seems a little surprised, but pleased with her honesty. He does have a bit of curiosity if she is able to commit after being married once before. Now, off they go to visit with Bevin's family. Everyone seems to get a long nicely. Bevin's mom even offers him a painting she made.

Danielle's family visit goes well. Her family is a little hesitant to letting their guard down at first. But, by the end of the night they are all enjoying each others' company. Their is a moment here or there where a lot of focus in questioning Andy is based on Danielle's past boyfriend tragedy.

With fairly smooth sailing this far in the visits, Andy faces some uncomfortable moments once he meets Tessa's family. When Andy moves on to meet Tessa's family, they seem to have the intention of drilling Andy about the whole circumstance. Asking him if some of the finalists are just there because he has to keep them there? Does Tessa lack any other qualities that the other contestants do offer? Andy answers that he understands Tessa takes "baby steps", but he wishes she would show her emotions a little more. Andy later finds out from speaking to her father that she joined the show "for fun" and "whatever happens, happens". This concerns Andy that she did not join the show for the same reasons that he did... to find that special one.

Amber's family is the last to visit. Amber and Andy head out to Sugar Land, Texas. Andy has the pleasure of visiting her class room and meeting her students. Amber seems to be in here element in the classroom. After they leave Amber calls her Aunt to arrange for her to meet Andy, because her parent's do not approve of her participating in the show. For whatever reason, her Aunt cannot make it. Andy and Amber continue their adventures at her apartment. At that point Andy meets her room mate and dog... whom later pees on the floor while they are eating. For that reason, Andy begins to think that Amber may not have experienced life enough to be at the same maturity level as him. He respects her as being mature, but still feels they may not be on the same level. Towards the end of the evening, Amber's Aunt does end up showing up and meets Andy.

Yay! The end of the show... the Rose Ceremony. So, who stays and goes? Tessa, Bevin and Danielle stay... Amber goes home. Hmm... interesting. In a different change of pace, Andy walks Amber outside to talk to her after she is cut. She seems so confused and surprised. he says it is because of her age, when just yesterday at their family meeting he said it's all about what is in the heart. As he continues to justify her being cut because of her age, he continues to become less and less believable as he is talking. None-the-less, he walks her to the limo, closes the door and her tears begin to flow. Andy returns inside the house and toasts the three remaining women and informs them that they will be traveling to Hawaii to see Andy in his element.
